What can I do as a Parent?

The Sunnybrook Parents' Association (SPA) was formed in 1987 and its major role is to aid the welfare of the school. There is a combined emphasis on improving the social and physical environment at the school and bringing parents together. The SPA holds meetings at the school starting on the first Monday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. Every parent is a member of the Sunnybrook Parents Association and is welcome to attend all meetings.

Funding for the SPA is from annual membership fees and special fund-raising events throughout the year, the main one being the annual Fun Fair in May. Any parent is eligible to become a member of the Executive Committee. We encourage all parents to find the way to participate in school life that best accommodates their interests and time constraints.

The support we receive from the Sunnybrook Parents Association on an ongoing basis has significantly improved the quality of the programmes we offer our students. The main fund-raiser is the Fun Fair. Support for the initiatives taken by the SPA benefits all our students and we appreciate the tremendous assistance they provide.

Each class has a class representative who acts as a liaison between other parents in their child's class, their teachers, and the SPA.

Special Events

Throughout the year, the School and the Parents' Association hold special events, which are important to the school community. Your attendance is always appreciated.

You will receive notification of upcoming events in newsletters and monthly calendars.

We encourage parents to become actively involved in the life of the school. There are many ways to do this, in addition to the SPA activities.

Parent Library Volunteers

A lively, energetic group of parents who lend support in a variety of ways to the school library.

Parent Skaters

A group of parents who drives, and assists with skating on Tuesdays in the winter term.

Parents as Partners

Most importantly you can support your children by talking to them about school, by encouraging them and by maintaining regular contact with their teachers.

Parent Volunteers

Volunteers are always welcome on field trips, as class reps, and in many other functions. If you wish to volunteer, please contact your child's teacher, the director, or a member of the Parent's Association. We will be delighted to hear from you.
